DT General Engineering Construction specializes in earthwork, infrastructure, and project management services.  We are a local company, based out of Pismo Beach, CA.  The company Owners are long-time Central Coast residents and take pride in working to build a better community.  We are committed to excellence and pride ourselves on communication with our clients, safety, professionalism, and top quality workmanship.

DT General Engineering Construction is the product of a life-long love for earthwork and the construction industry.  The son of a custom home builder and building inspector, Derek was exposed to many aspects of construction from a very young age.  That love saw him through education and a degree in Construction Management from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.  During that time, he spent summers on internships with residential, commercial, and heavy civil contractors.  Through that process, he developed a passion for earthwork and heavy equipment.

Upon graduation, Derek immediately went to work for one of the largest Heavy Civil Construction/General Engineering firms in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he developed highly efficient project management skills, and directed projects including utility installation and connection, expressways, paving, light rail, highway interchanges, and runway re-construction at 2 local International Airports.  His next step was returning to the Central Coast as a senior project manager for one of SLO County's largest Heavy Civil firms.  Notable projects during his local tenure included San Luis  Obispo Airport runway extension & Taxiway A, Highway 101 re-paving, and the Highway 46 corridor improvement/widening projects.
